Airflights

We are flying out of the east coast of the USA to Italy. We are planning to see Milan, Venice and the Florence areas. Taking into account cost, logistics and ease of travel, is there a preferred order as to were out to fly in and where to fly out considering these three cities?

I sugget flying in or out of Milan. I'm not sure there is much difference between Venice and Florence airports. Flights out of Venice tend to leave very early in the morning and that can be logistically hard to get to the airport early enough. I'd fly into Milan and out of Florence.

Actually it would make a little more sense to fly into Venice, train to Milan, then Florence, and come home from Florence or even Rome. Probably would have an early flight out of Florence also because you need to connect to your flight home. Few, if any, direct flights out of Florence.
