We are traveling in July to Italy with a family of 5 and still haven't purchased our flights. Does anyone have a crystal ball and do they think flights will come down anymore for July. I know it's high-season but I've seen flights come down over $200 in the last two weeks. Should I buy now or wait a little longer. We are scheduled to leave July 3rd and return on the 19th of July. Any input would be helpful.
I know that bing.com now has an airfare predictor feature on their travel page. Good luck.
If you've been charting air fares for a while, this is the best drop you've seen, and you're comfortable with it, then buy it. No one can predict when fares will come down these days, "sweet spot" or not. Airlines are far beyond the days when everything went on sale a certain period before the flights, because they use much more sophisticated software to manage their loads, especially with the big cuts in seating capacity over the past year. So jump on it now, and don't worry about it...move onto the more enjoyable aspects of planning your trip! ;)
I have been tracking flights for April and May and have not seen fares come down at all in the past 12 or so weeks. But it also looks like they are not going up either. So you could wait another 4-6 weeks and see if they come down to 750-850 range. But if you need to make your plans and are comfortable with the rates go ahead. Also where are you flying into and out of
