So the best fare for September 24th right now is about $800-$900 but that is with 2 stops and times not so great. I love the British Airways flight from Denver-Milan. It is $1036 total on airfare.com. The times are great and it's BA. Is this a good fare or do you think it will come down? Especially 3-4 months before we leave?
Airfares are up this year... If you are flying in June or July it looks like anything less than a $1000 is good. When are you leaving ?
Alex, are you aware that BA is now charging for advance seat selection? That will add a few dollars to the ticket.
We are leaving September 24th so hoping the fares go down a bit for fall?
No, I didn't know BA charged for advance seat selection-I wonder how much

September is still considered high season for hotel rates and is a popular time to travel, so I would not expect them to drop much or even at all. $1036 for the BA flight isn't a bad price, and has the advantage of being a direct flight and times that work well for you. Some of it comes down to personal preference and your budget; is it worth it to you to save $100 or so for your plane tickets, but deal with two stops as well as times that don't as well for you? IMO since I much prefer making my travel time as short as possible and dislike changing planes, I'd choose the direct BA flight and look to save money elsewhere (i.e. by choosing a B&B or 2-star hotel vs. a 3- or 4-star hotel), but everyone has different values.
I agree Thomas ~thanks so much. Just wondering if I should wait ~ have heard that 3-4 months before you fly the fares come down.
Advance seat selection on BA varies by length of the flight and is charged separately for each leg of the trip. US to Europe is around $75-$90.( per person) If you change in UK and then fly on to Italy its another $25+. Those are the approximate rates in Business class. It might be different in other classes
Looks like the cheapest it is going to be is maybe $100 if the times are right and dates are okay. So if you like BA I would go ahead and do it. Rates stink this year and dont seem to be going down the closer it gets
Alex, I don't know if you are locked into Milan(usually more flights there, so cheaper rates) but have you checked flights into Pisa or Florence, ore even Rome?
We did that for our trip to Tuscany/Umbria. We acually found a better flight (price/times/one stop) by flying into Rome.
Add up your costs for flying BA......usually its a better deal to fly with someone else.
I have looked into flying into other cities and cost is same. BA is still one of the best fares I can find for 1 stop and into Milan at a good time. On Mobissimo and Fly 4 Less it is $960. Hoping Lufthansa goes down in price :)
