What is the typical airfare cost from New York to Italy, based on your travel experiences.
Currently, Delta is offering around $850 roundtrip for 2. Would you consider that a good price or do you think there are lower prices to be had later in the year.

If that is total for 2, jump on it. They are matching Emirates low fares to Milan. I assume that is the destination airport.
That is a great price. We paid more than that for one from Boston to Venice in August. Plus we bought economy plus. It was worth every penny to upgrade.
I'd go twice if I could get that fare.

Right now, everybody is showing $818 RT pp departing Sun-Wed. $30 more Thu-Sat.
Try Emirates..much better airline than Delta.
$850.00 is a good price. I have paid a lot more and flew roundtrip, no stopovers to Rome from Newark several times. Buy quickly. Have a great time!!!
Not sure when you are thinking about traveling, but put in a date in May and got a $636 roundtrip on Aer Lingus flying from JFK through Dublin to Linate (the other Milan airport), which is actually closer than Malpensa. Got turned by a friend to this new website of tripdelta.com and they do seem to have some lower fares.
Because of Emirates,flying to Milan from JFK can be half the price of flying to Rome.
I paid in the night $800s per person round trip (on Emirates- they were pretty awesome) last year during the high mid-summer season.
I assume you can do better than that in shoulder season. But then again. April is right around the corner. So you may need to act fast.
Emirates has been having great prices. We booked 2 weeks ago for September, JFK to Milan, $1098 rt for 2 people. This week the fair dropped to $898 rt for 2, but does not include summer travel and you had to buy 2 tickets. I would keep checking their website.

A rule of thumb when looking/buying air tickets: when you find a price you can live with...buy them and stop looking...it will only make you crazy. Murphy's Law...once you purchase a cheaper fare will come along. So, buy and STOP shopping.

To answer my own question, this particular offer was PER COUPLE. In other words, two people round trip New York - Milan - New York for $899 total, economy class.
