AirBnB in Rome

Looking for recommendations for a month long stay near Rome in February 2027. Does not have to be in Rome (we value quiet) but close. Must be near public transportation and markets with fresh vegetables and fruit. 2 people, 1 bedroom and bath would be fine. Thanks!

My wife and I stayed in an air B&B in January 2025 in Trastavere for 10 days.
Trastavere ticks all you boxes for your needs except for quiet!
Note: Trastavere is busy and "hopping" at night with college kids etc.
It can be noisy and fireworks seem to go off every night.
If you get past that and the graffiti it is a great place to enjoy Rome just across the Tiber.
Good Luck.

We love staying in the Testaccio neighborhood. Very local with a wonderful market. I’ve found searching both Testaccio and Aventine on Airbnb helps.

Yup, Trastevere or Testaccio--which are basically across the Tiber River from each other--would be great. We're staying a week in Testaccio next March, and found a reasonable 2 BR, 2 bath AirBnB, 5th floor with lift, facing a piazza with greenery--a real locals area. Look around both areas. But Testaccio has the famed Testaccio Market, open morning until mid-afternoon, that is maybe the best in the city. We plan on walking there daily for provisions, and dining out in the evening.

That's my goal in the next 2-3 years--a month in Rome, late winter. Don't know how often you've been to Rome before, but February and March are both quiet months, although since Covid I think off-season has gotten decidedly busier, and sadly, more expensive. But from our past experiences in Rome, to connect in a neighborhood--ideally daytripping around Rome and its environs during the day (bus stop in front of our building), and coming back late afternoon for a nap then out for a nice walk to dinner, and gelato--is magic. A very nice existence!

Weather-wise, not bad, more temperate than you'd think, with ranges around 45-60 degrees F., some rain, but certainly no heat waves like we've been seeing this summer. I like Feb/March better!

So start looking now. Great thing at most AirBnB properties is that they usually are 100% refundable up to a month before travel. We've already booked ours for March. Enjoy your planning!

Testaccio will be MUCH quieter than Trastevere, much. And it's not really that far from central Rome. Loved the neighborhood vibe, gave a sigh of relief arriving from the historical center!
