AirBnB in Florence and Rome

Hello, all. We will be spending 3 nights in Florence and 4 nights in Rome during the last week in Nov/early Dec 2022 and are looking at AirBnB rentals. We will be traveling into each city by train, so will not have a car.

My question is what part of each city is best to find an AirBnB if we'll utilizing taxis and public transportation? Does it even matter? Looks like there are quite a few options.

Thanks,

We stayed in an AirBnB at Via dei Coronari in Rome and walked everywhere. A taxi took us there (some cars are allowed to enter the city). Note that Rome can get loud even at night and it can get hot. Once we closed our windows, our apartment was quiet and it had air conditioner.

I would search somewhere centrally located between the most important sites. Open the reviews and do several searches for the following words: noise, heat, hot, loud, quiet, stairs (if it's a problem for you), location, far, etc. We also search for "shower" and "washer" to see if they have had any problems in the past.

I have not been to Florence but I'll be going there next year. We got an AirBnB close to the Duomo and the train station since we plan to walk all the time.

Rome: We like to stay in the area near Palazzo Navona and the Pantheon whether in a hotel or AirBnB. We never have had to use taxis and we walk everywhere.
Florence: We like to be away from the crowds near the Duomo and prefer to stay in the Santa Croce neighborhood. We walk everywhere.
We only uses taxis or private cars to get from airport.
We had a beautiful looking AirBnB in Rome a few years ago for a week but neither of the big screen TVs ever worked and the refrigerator was broken. Mgt blamed TVs on the building( No, neighbors had TV reception) and acted like we were crazy complaining about refrigerator which was never cold. So we are hesitant to ever rent an AirBnB again.

I stayed in the Piazza Santa Maria Novella area of Florence last time I was there. It was just a short walk (less than 5 minutes) to the Duomo, but there were several taxis always waiting in one corner of the Piazza. It's also a short walk (5 minutes maybe) to the train and bus station.
