We are flying on an overnight flight on 7/15 landing in FCO at 0755 on 7/16. United just notified us of a planned ENAV air traffic control strike that will last 24 hours starting on 7/15. Wondering if we should rebook and arrive earlier or later?
We were scheduled to arrive on the 15th. After receiving this notice, we opted to fly a day earlier to arrive on the 14th. Chances are it'll be ok, but I personally did not want to deal with this aggravation on my vacation. Thankfully, our schedules and budget allowed us to make this change. Good luck deciding what to do as time is running out!
Is it true that even during a 24-hour strike Italian law makes them operate flights during certain windows? I've got a flight from Vienna to FCO on the 15th during one of those windows and am wondering if I should rebook. When I called Austrian they said it looked like it was going to be fine.
Hi - I am flying on the 7/15/2023 and will arrive on 7/16/2023 at 1:30 pm. Will the 24 hour strike be over at that time? Does anyone know when the strike will start and end? Is there a website that publishes this? Thanks
i found this link to be quite helpful: http://scioperi.mit.gov.it/mit2/public/scioperi
and this is a good article about the upcoming strikes https://www.wantedinrome.com/news/italy-faces-train-and-airport-strikes-on-13-and-15-july.html
Flights from New York to Rome are getting cancelled. My original flight departing 7/14 from EWR arriving 7/15 at FCO was cancelled. Very glad I made the switch.
We were there last October during one of the Air Traffic Control strikes. We went to check in to our flight to Paris for the next day only to discover all flights were canceled. It was a dickens getting out of Rome. We had to book a train to Milan then spend the night and take another train to Paris because it would have been two days before we could get out with everyone re-booking. Save yourself a headache and if you can easily swap to a day earlier or later, do so.
