Can anyone recommend a centrally located, reasonably priced, kid friendly agroturismo in Tuscany? A pool would be a plus... We would like a central base from which to explore the hill towns of central Italy. We will have a car... Thank you!

You'll find some recommendations by searching "agritourismo" through the search box above. Rick's Italy book has several recommendations, but you have to comb through all the Tuscany town listings to find them. Sorry, I don't have a cheat sheet. Of course, http://en.agriturismo.com/ is the main listing site for those rural accommodations.

If you do a search you'll find some recent posts here on that topic as its been discussed in the past 3-4 weeks. My family is staying at this place - http://www.spannocchia.com/ I have no idea if its kid friendly since we have no kids but it is located about where you'd like to be. Sorry I can't seem to make that a hotlink!

It had a large pool but we do not used it in May. It was priced with a package for I don't the individual rate. But it was handy for all of the hill towns.

We stayed at Podere Marcampo in Volterra. They have a pool. The rooms are very nice, the family is wonderful and the breakfast is delicious.

In June 2009, my wife and I stayed at Podere Montese, about 2 km outside the hill town of San Gimignano. The agriturismo was surrounded by vineyards, room was nice and cozy, the view from the terrace where they served breakfast was magnifico, and the breakfast fantastic. The apricot juice in the morning was fresh and heavenly, kept going back for more! Sorry, I forgot which site I found it. Maybe you can try www.venere.com.

We stayed at Fonte Bertusi outside Pienza and thought it was very convenient to most hill towns. It's run by a family that have their own young children, too. I believe there is a pool, but it was colder when we were there, so I can't quite remember. It's also listed in the RS book.

We've stayed at Camporomano in massrossa many time. Perfect location, friendly folks, kid friendly w pool and not far from a day at the beach.
