We are taking a last minute trip to Tuscany with my family (including three children ages 2-4). We are looking for recommendations for a place to stay, preferably near Siena. We are looking for something that is child-friendly (possibly an agriturismo) and preferably walking distance to a village. I would appreciate any input.

Lisa - Try the villa Il Palagio (www.infochianti.com) in Panzano. We've stayed there with our kids and they just loved it. The villa is spotless and very well appointed.
Panzano is exactly between Florence and Siena on the S222 (the Chianti Road). Charming hill towns all over the place.
The villa is one kilometer from the village which has several nice restaurants and a great little enoteca. The Caffe La Curva is great for breakfast and the kids loved the yummy gelato. Have fun.
We stayed in the Villa Nottola (agriturismo) in Montepulciano. It was lovely and one can get spacious rooms of- I think- an apartment. We also loved a real castle near perugia Castello del Cisterna. (Host is great and our kids loved staying in a real castle). We also stayed in Casa Aiola near Rada in Chianti (agritrusimo in Chianti region) We found all on BBplanet site. None are walking distance to a village.
Check out this website www.tuscany.net/ I've been using this site to find accommodations for a friend--it's great. It allows you to tell them the area you are interested in. It's interesting to note that some dates are considered low season for one agriturismo but not for another. Some will only rent rooms on a weekly basis instead of daily. When you are looking at a agriturismo's website, click on "how to reach us" to see a great map that shows where they are located--extremely helpful. Under facilities, they will indicate if it is child friendly. Good luck and have fun in Tuscany!

They serve wonderful dinner with items from their organic farm. They grow EVERYTHING there. It's run by 3 little old brothers. Dinner is fab. There is a pool and the whole place overlooks the towers of the medieval city of San Gimignano.
