We're looking to finish up our mid-June visit to Italy with a couple/few day stay at an agriturismo. Out last planned stop--between Orvieto & heading to Rome to fly home--we'd like to be an agriturismo. We've not yet done an agriturismo. Ideally we'd like a host/hostess that could keep us busy (neaby visits/cooking class/etc) for some "part" of the day. Has anyone else done such a stay? If so, what might you be able to share to help me make a good choice? Thanks in advance.
Have you tried to Google Agriturismo in the Orvieto area? Or go to Agriturismo.com.
Another way to find them is to go to Booking.com or Hotels.com. They're easy to find there.
I went to Google Maps for the area I wanted to stay in and hit Hotels at the top. Up pops icons everywhere.
There's no shortage of agriturismos in Tuscany and Umbria as so many farms are small and have rooms and apartments as a secondary source of income.
If you had more time, I'd tell you to contact OlliveTreeHill.com in Zagarolo--20 mi. south of Rome. They were the #1 rated farm stay in the Rome area. The owner cooks for his guests and he's also a great tour guide--famous for his midnight tours of Rome.
