Agriturismo recommendations for Chianti Region Tuscany Oct 2024

My husband and I will be traveling to Italy in late Sept/early Oct. After 4 nights in Naples we will head to Tuscany for 5 nights. We are booked one night at Villa di Piazzano (anniversary splurge!) and 2 nights at Agriturismo San Sano in Gaiole. We have two more nights to fill. Would like some recommendations on agriturismo/farm stay or winery accommodations for our other two nights. Or a castle stay? We may want to venture to Volterra? We will have a car.

Our other option is to just stay the four nights at San Sano.

Please let me know if you have had great stays in tuscany! We are adventurous and willing to move around to other areas.
Your feedback will be greatly appreciated!

Welcome to the forum!

Where will you go after this time in Tuscany?
Where will you drop the car?

My preference would be to stay put for all 4 nights and just day trip around from there.
I don’t like 2 night stays —too much time spent checking in and out.
Although visiting other towns on your way to new place is an option, there is always a risk when you leave luggage in your parked car.

If you must move I’d look for somewhere in the Val ‘D’Orcia region -close to Montepulciano, Montalcino or Pienza
( I’d actually stay in one of these towns and do my wine tasting there-unless you have a designated driver)

Fly into Naples
Naples Sept 25th - 30th : with day trips to Amalfi Coast, Pompei and Capri
Train to Florence on 30th, pick up car
Sept 30th Siena Four Points Sheraton (I need reliable wifi to teach a class online this night/early morning)
Oct 1: Villa de Piazzano
Oct 2 & 3: Algriturismo San Sano
Oct 4:

Oct 5:
Oct 6: Florence (AC Firenze Hotel)
Oct 7: Florence (AC Firenze Hotel) - (need reliable wifi to teach a class online this night/morning)

We love Florence, have been there a couple times. Spending a couple nights to visit our favorite places and resturants.

I’d just stay all 4 nights in Gaoile
It’s a decent location and with a car you can day trip all around Tuscany

The only issue as mentioned above is wine tasting while driving
The alcohol limits are much lower in Italy so use a designated driver or buy a bottle to drink at “home”

Thank you, good advice. I was leaning in that direction.

I appreciate the information about alcohol levels and driving. I am the designated driver as I am unable to drink alcohol due to a current health condition. My husband will get to do the tasting, I will take a sip now and then!! We'll bring home the good ones and I can sample at a later date.
