Agriturismo Near Sienna

We are a couple who wants to stay at an Agriturismo in the Sienna area for four nights beginning Sept. 17th. Unfortunately Agriturismo Marciano is not available during that time. We want to take a couple of day trips while we are there and explore Sienna. I would appreciate any recommendations.

We stayed at the Agri, Borgo Sicelle, and loved it. For $65EU/nite we had a huge self-contained apt, with an awesome view, and pool. It was 20 quick miles to Siena (it is less than two miles to the freeway) http://www.borgosicelle.it/en/ Check out the reviews in Trip Advisor.

I am an American living in Siena (The English spell it Sienna but the Italians spell it Siena). Last fall, I was lucky enough to stay at an agriturismo oustide of Siena that I absolutely loved. Besides being beautiful and romantic (one room has a canopy bed) and spotless, Elisabetta the hostess is quite sweet. Each comes equipped with a little kitchen. They have mountain bikes to borrow for free, so you can see the lovely countryside that way. I would ride my bike to the nearest town, Arbia, for groceries. It is also on the Siena city bus line so you can get into town without worrying about parking (a hassle). It comes about once every hour (but not 1-3 pm) and takes about 25 minutes to climb to the middle of town. It is called Agriturismo Montaperti and the rates are reasonable. They have very good wine, too. Beth Young

We spent a week at La Falconara in Montepulciano. Beautiful location! Alex and Ingrid made us feel like family and gave us information for visiting some of the small hillside villages. I would HIGHLY recommend staying here. www.lafalconara.it

Yes - if you have a car Montepulciano is divine, but it is about 45 mins drive to Siena. Have you looked at agriturismo.it? I've never been let down. If you want to stay somewhere really uniques, may I suggest the 'Poggibonsi 748' listing on agriturismo.net. It's a beautiful castle and has very reasonable rates.
