Agriturismo Near Chianto Road

Hi, my wife and I are traveling with another couple for 2 weeks (October 2-15) through Italy. We have read about the Agriturismos in the Tuscany region and have decided to stay at one for 3 nights (October 8-11). We will be coming from Florence and we would like to relax and enjoy the Chianti road area. We prefer to stay in a farmhouse with a winery and eat home cooked food. Maybe take a cooking class, sample wine, look for truffels, etc. We will have a car and may take a day trip to nice hilltown village. Does anyone have any recommendations for agriturismos in that area? Have have done some research but it is difficult to make a decision.

Dievole, just outside Vagliagli (15 mins North of Siena) is a 400-year-old winery with accomodation, wine bar and small restaurant. Outside of Greve, Vignamaggio is an upscale Winery and B&B. Dinner may also be available some nights, but frankly you'd be better heading up the hill to Restauro Lamole, which is a superb restaurant with beautiful home-made food. http://www.lodgephoto.com/galleries/italy-tuscany-chianti-vignamaggio/

Tim. We stayed in the most wonderful old farmhouse in Chianti countryside at Simonettes, which is beautifully renovated farmhouse in a midevial hamlet of Adine. She does it all, but not sure if she would do all your meals. We did take a cooking class from her and her American friend who stays in another farmhouse nearby. I found her through the agrotouism chianti links and very reasonable 60 E each a night. Next time we go we will stay a week. A coulple days is not enough. Check out the accolades about Simonettas in TA. You won't do better. Cheers. Simonetta's LodgeAdd a photo

Shelly, Thank You! I will call them tomorrow. My wife's friend and her husband are physicians in Minneapolis and also stay in that town (annually). We have heard good things. Ciao. Tim
