Agriturismo in Tuscany?

We are going to Italy for the first time in June and really need input on finding an agriturismo in Tuscany. We are hugely bummed we missed out booking a stay with the famed Moricciani family. Basically, I'm hoping we can find something just as nice in roughly the same location. Two of the most attractive aspects of staying with the Moriccianis for me was a) being made part of the family, and b) having organized and accurate info on many daytrips of nearby towns, things to do, etc. We would appreciate any feedback. Thanks!

Hi Laurie. Have you looked at Agriturismo Marciano in Siena? We stayed there in '09 & absolutely loved it. We still talk about our experience there & wish we could go back. You can read the reviews on Trip Advisor; it's highly rated and for good reason. The agriturismo is a beautifully renovated old farmhouse. It is run by a brother & sister & other staff who are all extremely friendly and warm. Breakfast is served every morning around the kitchen table and then the staff are available to assist in helping plan your day trips. They make great suggestions for places to visit and the best way to get there. They offer optional dinners several nights a week and whenever they were offered, we partook in them; they were truly a fantastic experience. The sister does the cooking with the freshest of ingredients (that either come from their own garden or the daily market) & the courses & wine (their own label) keep coming. The price was very reasonable both for the dinners & the room & we had absolutely no complaints except that we wish we had stayed longer.

I have to agree with Sheron about Agriturismo Marciano. I can't say enough good things about it. We stayed there in September 2010 and I can't wait until I can go back to Italy and stay there again. A definite highlight of our 3 weeks in Italy!
