Agriturismo for blended family and foodies

I need help! Another family, friends, want to do a joint trip to Italy next summer as a graduation trip for our daughters. I’m not big on group travel, but I thought an agriturismo might work for that many people. That family likes to cook so maybe a food-centered place. Amenities not so important. No particular region in mind.
Suggestions?

Do not underestimate the budget. Since farms are usually far from train stations, They'll need an adequate number of cars. Otherwise they won't have many opportunities to see the surrounding region and reach a city. After a couple of days, Farms and cooking classes start getting boring to anyone older than 10.

"Food-centered" means Piedmont's wine country to me, or Emilia-Romagna. Unlike Tuscany both regions are famous for the local cuisine, but in both Regions one must be careful in picking the right spot in a nice area not industrialised.

"When" in Summer matters, because of crowds and weather. As an example, schools close around June 15 in Italy, while August 15 is national holiday etc. etc.

Thank you, Dario. I agree with your points. I prefer the activities in a city and people watching. You confirmed what I predicted that it’s boring being isolated.

Dario's feedback is spot on.

Part of my extended family went as a small group (4 adults) in Fall 2019 to Sicily and stayed at an agriturismo for 5-to-6 days. They enjoyed it for the same reasons as you, but they also used it as their central base for day trips. It was homey and informal, and the family that runs it was very friendly and helpful!

2 or more cars will be important depending upon your party and their groupings (2 families, or 3, or more?) as not everyone may want to do the same thing together each day.

Enjoy!
