Hi We have an extra day that we haven't booked yet on the way back to Orvieto to return our rental car. I would like to stay somewhere more rural or in a smaller town. I am thinking either near Perugia or Orvieto any suggestions as to which of these would be the most interesting (and maybe have some good local food). I think when we pick up the car we will spend the afternoon in Orvieto and hopefully have time to look at the Cathedral and Caves. Thanks Maria

Il Poggio near San Casciano dei Bagni. Oh wait back from where to Orvieto? This is north of Orvieto. About 60 miles. Ah well might be worth the extra miles driving through the heaven on earth countryside to get to it. Bella Italia. Bella.

We will be driving back from Abruzzi. So I guess more south of Orvieto unless Perugia is worth the extra driving.

Last year we stayed at an agri a few miles outside of Orvieto that we absolutely loved. The owner had two self contained apts in his house. For $75 EU/nite we got this huge, quiet apt on his beautiful little farm. As an added bonus they had a pool. Go to Trip Advisor and read the reviews on "Frallarenza", and then check out their web site. We would drive to Orvieto, or another town, for dinner each nite.
