What month are you going? We will be in Agrigento mid-October. Originally we had a panoramoc room at Hotel Colleverde. After a day of sightseeing we thought their dinner on the terrace overlooking the Temples and valley would be lovely way to cap off the day.
It includes parking and a full hot breakfast and a good restaurant. ~~~We are staying just 1 night now and are reviewing B & Bs.

Who did you rent from? I'm looking to rent at Trapania Airport and will check Hertz and Budget. We need a manual.
I have directions printed out from Google. I've heard GPS is so so for Sicily.
We'll be coming from Trapani, staying 1 night, then moving on to an apartment in Taormina.

We rented our car from Avis through carrentals.com to be picked up at Catania airport. We needed a larger car than I usually like to get in Europe because there will be four of us.

This is a recommendation from people who stayed 2 nights. They said it was quiet and charming and more like an apartment hotel.
Le Casette di Lu; free parking, free breakfast, free internet.

Thanks for the car tip as I need to firm that up this week.

Thank you, Diane, for your suggestions. We booked a room for two nights at Colleverde Park Hotel.

"I've heard GPS is so so for Sicily."

You heard that from me. And I have an update. Last year, I went with a friend to Sicily and we took his Garmin. It knew many roads, but other times it was completely lost. This year for his return trip (with his husband and without me), on the recommendation of our agriturismo hostess, he got a TomTom. He just came back from the trip, and reports that it indeed knew all the roads he needed, including the very rural area around the agriturismo. He said it was a strange experience not getting lost on the way there {g}.

So, if you have a TomTom, you can use it with more confidence (of course, it never hurts to have paper maps). And while the Garmin had gaps, it was very helpful at other times, so don't write it off entirely.
