Agrigento Sicily, Valley of the Temples

I will be in Agrigento October 4th and 5th. Are there any lookout points or piazzas in the city that offer a view of the lighted Temples after dark. The night tours of the Temples end mid September but I’d like to see the Temple in their evening splendor. I could also use a hotel recommendation, preferably near the train station since I will be coming and going by train. I travel light so I can walk a ways if it’s worth it, but I have my limits too. Thanks for the advice!

Lori,
I enjoyed my stay at B&B Portatenea which is conveniently located near the train station (although I arrived by bus).
Sandra, the owner is very helpful and friendly. My room was comfortable and quiet. Breakfast was delicious and served on the rooftop terrace.

You can see the illuminated temples at night from this roof terrace, but they are far away.

Here’s that part of my trip report if you’re interested: Bus to Agrigento...

Wishing you a wonderful trip!

We could see the lighted temples from our hotel including from some of the hotel rooms. Colleverde Park Hotel. Wonderful dining room and staff. Highly recommend it.
I would not stay in the actual town center of Agrigento up the hill as it was over run with beggars when we visited last October.

We stayed at Villa Athena. It is in the Valley of the temples so not down town or near the train station but a wonderful view of the temple Concordia at night from the hotel

I also stayed at B&B Portatenea in April, 2019 (at Priscilla and Zoe's recommendations!). It was a lovely B&B (run more as a hotel, but desk isn't staffed at night) and is a very easy 10" walk from the train station. Large, very comfortable rooms, with small balcony. Wonderful, helpful staff, who gave me very clear directions about where to catch the bus to the temple valley. Lovely breakfast buffet on the top terrace. In good weather, you can eat breakfast outside. There is a view of the temple area from the terrace but, as Priscilla noted, the temple valley is a long way from town (several kilometers) so the temples are small when viewed from that distance. I was quite happy with the neighborhood, as the B&B is right at the foot of a (mostly) major pedestrian street, with shops and restaurants very close by, and a grocery and bakery within half a block (great place to stock up for the recommended picnic lunch among the temples!). I did not encounter any beggars. Maybe April isn't high beggar season? I would very happily return there!

We stayed at B&B Villa San Marcos and could see the lighted temples from it. We walked from the B&B to the Temples via a path through the garden.
