We are using Taormina as our base & will not be renting a car. We won't have time for both Agrigento & Siracusa & have narrowed down our day trips to Mt. Etna, Palermo & either Agrigento or Siracusa. I'd love some feedback as to which to which to choose.

hi jen, let me preface this by saying i went to both Agrigento and Siracusa in the way back machine (circa 1992). I'd choose Siracusa as it was more interesting and picturesque. Agrigento was not at all what I expected. It was a very small town with hardly anything to do. That said, things may have changed in the last 20 years. You will certainly not be disappointed with either city. PS - a day trip to Palermo will be fun, but you should plan it out pretty well because it's a pretty large city to see in a day. have a great trip!!

Siracusa (Syracuse) definitely. Closer and easier to get to as well from Taormina.
