Agrigento in March

I have a tradition of bringing my niece and nephew on a trip during their senior year in high school. I will be traveling with one of each this time. I am have not made up my mind what we will do. I was thinking we'd to Sicily and primarily stay in Agrigento for 7 days and take some day trips. I have to see the Valley of the Temples...the "youngsters" are less culturally minded and would like to soak up Sicilian culture, do some shopping and swimming. They will endure a trip to Monreale. Is March a time when we could swim in the Mediterranean? Does anyone know of a half-day cooking class in the area? A ferry ride to one of the islands would be perfect. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you, Tony

Are they from Maine like you? Cause the water will be cold in March...too cold for swimming, kind of like swimming in Maine in early June. It should be sunny, so you may get some nice days to stretch out on a rock and take in some sun. The weather in March can vary widely, from rainy, cold, and windy to sunny and warm. If the weather gets too rough the ferries to the islands don't run, so maybe have some backup plans in place just in case.
