Agrigento Do I need tour guide.

Good Evening:
I would like to spend two days in Agrigento to go to the Valley of the temples. Since it is so big and I am a senior lady, should I use a tour guide? Are there transportation inside the area? I have never been there and wondering if I can walk all over the area? Any Air B&B tht you may recommend?
Thank you.
Big Island.

We visited as part of the RS Sicily tour. It was a great day but I don’t think I would have appreciated it nearly as much without the great guide we had.

You can do it all on your own, don't miss the archaeology museum. A good guide always enhances a visit to any sight.

If you have a good travel book and a water bottle, you don’t need a guide. Use Google Maps in advance to evaluate your dirt path walking distance abilities. This is a lot of walking, and a guide can’t help you with that!

We stayed at B&B Villa San Marcos while there and were able to walk to the temples from it via a path through the olive grove. Not sure how senior you are, but it is certainly walkable unless you have mobility issues. From the time we left our B&B until we returned, it was three hours. I feel our pace was very leisurely. Had I not waited for the crowds to clear so I could get decent photos, we would have finished seeing all the temples much sooner. I don’t feel you need a tour guide, but that’s a personal preference.

There's not transportation within the archeological sight itself, but you can probably find transport between the gates and once inside can move along at your own pace. Much of the sight is on a gently sloping hill, so you may find it easier to start at the top and walk down. A guide can add a lot to ones understanding of the sight, but you might need to book a longer than standard tour if you desire a slower pace.

Good Afternoon Everyone. Thank you very much for all your kind comments. I will not take a guide but I will do it with a good tour book as suggested. So appreciative of everyone.
