During our Venice-Florence-Rome tour in June, I am wondering if there is enough time on Day 6 to go to Pisa on an afternoon tour.
Pisa is 80 km (50 miles) from Florence. The two cities are connected by frequent train links. Travel time is 1hr to approx. 1h30min depending on the mode of transportation (Fast Regional Train, Regional Train, Bus, car). One afternoon is therefore sufficient for a quick excursion to Pisa to visit the leaning tower and the cathedral+Baptistry. If you feel you can take some time off from your itinerary, you can do it. But if you have only one or two days for Florence, then maybe i don't know if I'd take time away from it to visit Pisa.
I agree with Roberto... Make sure you have enough time in Florence to do it justice... Depending on your pace, min 2 days.. 4 would be better. We love it, over 3 trips we've spent 9 or 10 days to soak Florence up. (Same for Venice/4 trips.
Make sure you love 14th, 15th century church paintings in the Uffizi. Not in love with Florence. Went to Pisa at 9am and returned by 3pm. still had time to climb the Duomo before it closed that day. By far, climbing the leaning tower was a bucketlist item for me!
