We are ex-pats living in Germany and are heading to Venice for the first time in June. All the places Rick suggests to stay in his Italy 2011 guidebook are full, so any one have a great place to share? I am trying to avoid using hotels.com. We are looking to spend no more than $200 per night. Any suggestions would be most helpful!

www.yeego.com or www.alpharooms.com will give you some very good prices. I've used them both with never a problem encountered.

I'm in agreement with Laurel's post. We just got back from Venice three days ago and stayed at Ai Tagliapietra B&B for two nights. Only 90 Euro per night in a very modern room with also the best WiFi on the trip. There is an arts festival going on in June so that might be part of the problem in finding rooms. Lorenzo, the owner, remarked to us about being fully booked during that time. He also gets the award for the best B&B owner. Really a nice and helpful individual. Good Luck!
