I have to be on a 6:45am flight out of Roma, and I know that there is a bus that you can catch at 3:45am near Roma Termini. However, I'd prefer to stay really close to the airport (then stand outside by myself in Roma at that hour). My question is: are there any really convenient, affordable hotels near FCO that also provide a shuttle to and from the airport? Any suggestions? Thanks so much.
J
There is a Hilton Garden Inn at FCO with a shuttle, however, it's between 150 and 170 Euros depending on the season.
If you are flying back to the US, you will need 3 hours from drop-off at Terminal 5 to get through the chaos, or, if flying inter EU, you need 2 hours.
What do you mean chaos?
It depends on what affordable is to you. There is a Hilton at the airport but it's not cheap. I don't know of any hotels that have a shuttle to the airport. Donna
What I mean is that it is an absolute zoo to get through check-in, security, and then to the gate-the terminal is too small and all the US flag carriers are on top of each other. If you don't have elite status with a carrier, get there early, pray, and good luck!
Janet, book any hotel you want in the city and use Rome Cabs to shuttle you to the airport. They are an awesome, surprisingly affordable private shuttle service, that has an excellent track record. (see revviews in Trip Advisor) You will save money, and have a guaranteed shuttle. We used them this past June to shuttle us from Ciampino to FCO. They even had someone meet us at the 1st check-in who could expedite us thru the subsequent check points.
