Affordable hotels in Venice

My wife and I are planning a trip to Italy in September - starting in Venice - we would like to be in walking distance from the Piazzale Roma station - any good recommendations? Thanks,

Paul

What is “affordable” to you? For some it is €100 per night, for others €400.

walking distance from the Piazzale Roma

All hotels in Venice are within walking distance from Piazzale Roma - for me. Not for my wife though. What is your definition of walking distance - with luggage.

Sorry if that sounds snarky, but your question was far far too general to answer.

You can see a lot of good hotel information on https://europeforvisitors.com/venice/venice-warning.htm

Just checking on what you mean by "Piazzale Roma station." Piazzale Roma is a large parking lot/transportation hub which is the end of the line for buses, cars, and a sort of trolley from the mainland, but it is NOT the main Venice train station. To get from Piazzale Roma to the Venezia Santa Lucia train station, you either need to walk about 15 minutes, including over a high stepped bridge, or you need to take the vaporetto one stop. If you want to be near the TRAIN station, that is a very different questions from being near Piazzale Roma. There are lots of hotels within a flat ten minute walk from Venezia Santa Lucia train station, but the pickin's are more limited near Piazzale Roma.

I've stayed twice at the La Locanda Di Orsaria, a small hotel not far from the train station (which is not far from Piazzale Roma (I left Venice from from Piazzale Roma so walked with my bags from the hotel). The La Locanda Di Orsaria is a modest place but nicer inside than it looks from the outside. No elevator - one room I stayed in was on the ground floor but another was up a few floors of stairs. I paid about 80 euros/night including tax.

For this Sept. you are a bit on the late side of the planning curve. Need to get into high gear.

Hotel Dalla Mora is about a 10 minute walk from Piazza Roma. Old and creaky hotel, but clean and with AC. It is on a canal, we had a view of it from our room. Staff was helpful and friendly. Hotel has an outdoor seating area overlooking the canal that is great for enjoying a bottle of wine after a busy day of site seeing. Price includes breakfast. I think we paid about 90E for the room

Don't know your exact dates. The hotels near the Train Station tend to fill up a month ahead. I suggest Hotel Guerrini. Stayed twice. Would stay again.

Check air bnb for a small apt. Usually better prices , but check the box for elevator as many do not have elevators
