Hi all. I am traveling to Sicily on a small group tour in October. We will be spending 2 nights in the Isle Salina. I am finding limited information on things to do there during our free time. We will be going on a guided tour of caper fields but not much else is planned. Has anyone been there and can suggest some things to do? I’d be interested in a wine tour and perhaps a boat tour around the island. Also, some recommendations for dining as well as must try food. Thanks for any help you can provide.

October might be late for a boat tour but if weather is good enough, you can organize this the day before through your hotel; there are also kiosks near the port and in Malfa that can set you up.. What part of the month are you planning to go? A lot will be shut in October..
Salina is great for hiking and there are many trails of various difficulties.
Where are you staying? At the main port, or in Malfa..?????
With only two nights, you will not have that much time, since you'll need time to take the ferry from Milazzo or Palermo, and settle into your hotel....if you tell me where you are staying I might be able to help more..we've been to Salina several times but mostly relax and eat!! One of my favorite restaurants is NNI LAUSTA. But again, I'm not sure how late in the season restaurants will be open..
Keep in mind that the hydrofoil from Milazzo gets canceled fairly often due to winds or rough seas. This can happen at any time of the year but more likely in October. So that would mean that you arrive on Salina later than planned, or your departure gets pushed up by a day....you have to check the weather and the schedule closer to the dates.. Good morning. I’ll be in Salina October 10 - 12. Our ferry leaves from Milazzo. I have a feeling the tour company I’m going with is adding this strictly for relaxation since it’s between our stay in Cefalu and Taormina. They have added a foot note that Salina is contingent based on weather conditions. I’m not sure where we’d be going if this happens.
