Are the Aeolian islands a "must see" in Sicily? and how many days would you devote there on a 3 week tour of Sicily?

Nothing and everything can be a must see, it depends on your likes and priorities. Do some searches online and see if relaxing in the islands for a few days is something you'd like. Given the time and expense necessary for the ferry trip process (especially if you take a car across), which is not only the one hour crossing, but all the embarking process, I'd want to spend at least a couple of nights, or maybe more if you plan to visit more than one island.
