Advice Regarding Getting to Cinque Terre From Livorno Port

We want to visit Cinque Terre within the 12 hour time the cruise ship is in Livorno port through Norweigian.

Does anyone have suggestions on a great transportation service that is affordable? Obviously the train station is cheapest but we are looking to find something that offers quick pick up and reliable drop off so we can squeeze the most amount of time in Cinque Terre but still be back in time for the ship's departure. We are hesitant to do the cruise ship's excursion due it's size of approximately 50 people.

Any tips?

Bus or taxi to Livorno Centrale, train to La Spezia, change to regional train to Riomaggori.
Time around 2 hours 17 minutes.

The problem is that cars are not faster than trains especially to the Cinque Terre, where you have to go through some twisting roads, while the trains take you right into town through some impressive tunnels in the mountains and cliffs.
If you can get a taxi to the station, the train ride is about 1h30 to 1h45, there is about 1 train every hour that can get you there.

I'm thinking the same as Gerri and Roberto: you'll accomplish this more efficiently by rail than by road, plus reduce the potential of delays from traffic-related incidents. Just take a taxi between the port and the train station.

We did a private car tour that took us to 4 out of the 5 towns. 1 was not accessible due to flood damage (2 years ago). It was wonderful, but not cheap it it is just two of you. We were lucky since we had 3 couples to split the cost. Driver was wonderful and informative. He stopped along the way for photo ops as well.

Since this may not be an option due to cost, that is understandable, it was 610€.

Figured I would throw it out there, it was a wonderful visit. Yes the ride was a bit long, but scenic. Can't complain, preferred this over a cattle-call excursion from the cruise ship.
