Advice please about Sicily

My husband and I will be in Sicily before, during and after Easter 2023. We would love some suggestions about an interesting location to spend a few days over Easter. We are active seniors. We want to avoid the very popular locations and huge crowds for this holiday but something special and manageable. We will have a car and the itinerary is flexible at this point.
thanks very much! Susan.

Since you want to c duct family research in Sciacca, why not stay there. A couple places near there that might work are Marsala and Mazara Del Vallo. Neither is a popular location. If you will have a car there are a number of other small towns in that area.

Have you determined where will you be immediately prior to the time period in question? Sicily is a pretty big island, and it can take time to cover even short distances. Trapani is a charming town.. Definitely stay in the old town; that's where the character is. There will be adequate church-related activities, the main street was made for the passeggiata, the food is great, and Trapani is not expensive at all. Depending on how many days you have, it would be very easy to visit Erice for a few hours, too.

Thanks for the suggestions. We will be in Sicily for a few weeks so can be somewhat flexible. My original question was in hopes of finding someone who had spent Easter in a place that was special/unusual for some reason. However, we are thinking to be in Ragusa or nearby for a few nights and travel around that area over the holiday or get to Ortigia and stay there over the holiday. Definitely not planning to travel around over the holiday.

We were in Caltagirone over Easter one year. We enjoyed their processions very much but don't know how they compare to other places. There were giant statues that were paraded through the streets with different bands playing march music. The Virgin Mary's march was "Stars and Stripes Forever"!

Thanks for the tip Janet. We might get there before Easter. We've settled on an agriturismo near Modica for Easter weekend. Great reviews and we are looking forward to it. We have 4 weeks in Sicily to fill and have most of it 'big picture' planned. Making location decisions about the Etna area is proving challenging--we like to hike and have several days in that area--with a car, to explore varied terrain. I will post this specific question in a separate thread :).
