Hello All.
we have been traveling in the French Riviera over the last week or so, and have a day in Menton. after Menton, we are considering a visit to SanRemo due to the close proximity of the two towns. We have Two questions …..is San Remo worth a visit, and if so, what are some of the interesting sites that we could see on a day trip.

I spent a week in San Remo some years ago taking a course (yes, that was a nice gig!) and I think a visit there is well worth it. It is a resort but also a decent sized and very pleasant Italian town in its own right. The old town at the top of the hill (called La Pigna) is very atmospheric with nice views from the little park at the summit. Other attractions include Alfred Nobel’s villa with interesting displays about his life and legacy, and a Russian church built for the many Russian visitors in the early 20th century. I did the reverse day trip (to Menton from San Remo) and that was easy by train.
Hi, Giangilberto from Milan, Sanremo is a place I visit every summer.
As the user Slate mentioned, the old town, known as "La Pigna", is Sanremo's historic medieval core, founded around the year 1000, it is well worth a visit. Situated in the upper part of the town, it features the characteristic narrow alleyways and beautiful viewpoints typical of Ligurian historic centers.
Another interesting spot is Forte di Santa Tecla, formerly a prison, it is now managed by the Ministry of Culture as a museum, where visitors can explore the site and view rotating exhibitions.

However, my top recommendation, if you have a car, is to visit Bussana Vecchia, a small village right next to Sanremo. Devastated by an earthquake in the early 20th century, the village was reborn in the 1960s and 70s thanks to people from all over the world, many with ties to hippie culture, who began repopulating and partially rebuilding the area, eventually settling there.
It is my favorite place to retreat to whenever I visit Sanremo.
If it is open, stop by Osteria degli Artisti for an excellent lunch or dinner.

Depending on your timing and mode of travel, a stop at the town of Dolceacqua along the way would be rewarding. Monet made a famous painting of its arched bridge, the streets and piazza with old tall buildings are a wonder to roam, and there are small cafes for relaxing.
