Hello! In July our family (myself, husband and 10-year old daughter) will be traveling mostly in Switzerland, but we're planning to go from Zermatt to either Milan, or Lugano, and then onto Lake Como (Bellagio). Does anyone have advice on where to spend our time? Milan for 2 nights? Lugano for 2 nights? 1 night in each? Would appreciate your perspective, thanks in advance!
Could you include more info? Where are you coming from and going to afterwards?
I'd recommend maximum amount of time in Lake Como, ( assuming you already have many nights in the Berner Oberland,) and minimal in Milan and Lugano. Are you flying out of Milan, perhaps?
This topic has been frequently discussed here on the Forum, and you will find a wealth of info if you review the posts under Switzerland here.
Safe travels!
Also, lodging in Europe is getting expensive and in short supply this summer, due to pent-up COVID demand, so I suggest developing an itinerary and booking lodging asap. Available lodging may determine your route.
Good luck!
Thank you so much, Pat! We are flying in and our of Geneva in July. Our itinerary as of now:
- Geneva (2 nights with a day trip to Annecy)
- Zermatt (2 nights)
- Lugano or Milan (2 nights)
- Bellagio (2 nights)
- Lucerne (2 nights)
- Grindelwald (2 nights)
- Montreux (2 nights)
- Back to Geneva
We have all hotels booked (including in Lugano) but now we're thinking Milan may be a better idea (more to do, see and eat), and then go directly from Milan to Bellagio (which I understand is easier than Lugano to Bellagio).
