Advice Needed: Stay in Venice Before Heading to Piran

Hi everyone,

We’re looking for 2 nights of budget accommodation (2–3 star) in Venice. We are budget travellers and want something clean, safe, and reasonably priced.

We will be arriving from Bologna by bus or train, and after our short stay we will be travelling on to Piran. Because of this, we’d like to stay somewhere convenient for both arrival and departure.

We only want a short “snapshot” experience of Venice, so a location near Piazzale Roma or Venezia Santa Lucia station might be good, but we’re open to other suggestions.

Do you have any recommended hotels or areas that fit a budget 2–3 star style?

Thank you!

“Guesthouse Alloggi Agli Artisti.” It’s a five-minute walk from the Santa Lucia train station on a quiet side alley. Basic, clean rooms and breakfast is served in a dining room. Stayed here because we didn’t want to drag our luggage through Venice!
There are vineyards in a huge, walled garden started by Carmelite nuns across the alley the guesthouse is on. The “Giardino Mistico” gardens are enclosed by huge fortress-like walls. The train station is on the other side of the gardens which is why you never hear any trains or much of anything else ( other than church bells).

Reserve well in advance as it often is completely booked.

Hotel Caprera is maybe 10 or 15 minute walk from P Roma. Clean and staffed well.
I used Goopti from Piran to Venice last fall and would highly recommend them for transfer.

After much research I just booked Palazzo Odoni for two nights in early September. Booking.com reviews are good. It is close to S. Lucia so I can catch an early train; Google Maps show 11 minute walk, so I’m figuring 15 minutes. Price fit within my budget for a single room. Since I haven’t stayed there yet, I can’t give you a review. https://www.palazzoodoni.com/en/

I usually stay at B&B Corte Campana but because of the film festival that week, they were only booking four night stays. I have reservations for the end of September. They are in Castello right behind San Marco so a little further away from the area you’re looking for. https://www.cortecampana.com/index.html

Gosh thank you everyone!!!
I was really stuck with this one.
Love them all but have gone with Hotel Caprera as it suits our bedget best, has great reviews and in the perfect spot to move onto Piran.
Have just gone direct top the hotel and so much cheaper! I am finding that a lot with places in Europe when I book direct.
Thank you again for taking the time to reply:)
