Advice for a month in Urbino.

I'm a Journalism student at San Francisco State University and will be spending the month of July in Urbino, Italy, working on a multimedia project with other students through a group called ieiMedia. I'm posting this to ask if anyone has any advice on things to do there, travel to other cities in the region, possible story ideas for me to follow in writing articles, shooting video, and collecting audio samples there, where to find the cheapest airfare to Rome from Northern California, and any other information anyone would thing useful. Thanks to everyone who reads this and posts anything for your time and help, I really appreciate it.

Jack, I was in Urbino several years ago and enjoyed it very much (I love the smaller towns.)
It is near several hilltowns and also close to San Marino. Will you have a car? or use public transport?
I think all of the hilltowns are wonderful.
As to the price of airfare - I have used a ticket consolidator before and had good luck.
I also search for a lot of my travel info on the internet.
Best of Luck - we would like to read what you write and would be interested in seeing your multimedia project.
Enjoy
