Advanced tickets for sights in Florence and which dome should we climb?

I am going in September and purchasing some advanced tickets now. Should I purchase on the museumflorence.com site or has anyone used GetMyGuide website? Purchasing advanced tickets does not give you a skip the line option that I can see on museumflorence website however it does give you a specific time for climbing the tower at the Duomo. I guess I am asking where to get the skip the line tickets for sites and museums in Florence. Also should we do Giotto's Tower or the Duomo's Dome? Thanks in advance.

The Duomo climb is more challenging, but the climb is much more interesting, the artwork you get to see and standing at the very top is worth the effort, and you are higher than in the Tower. That said, we have done both (bucket lists, we climb EVERY tower we can)

The Brunelleschi Pass is valid for 3 days to the Dome climb, the Bell tower, the Baptistery, the museum and Santa Reparata. If you buy that pass you will pick a time for your Dome climb. That is when the 3 day timer starts. 150 people are allowed to climb the dome at one time, besides the first slot (8:15 I think it was) has 125 people. If you book directly through the Uffizi and Accademia website you will have a specific time to enter again. You still have to wait through security but when we were there a couple weeks ago, neither security line took more than 15 min. I would never go to either of those sites without a reserved time. The lines were outrageous.

We were in Florence in early May. We bought the Brunelleschi Pass and climbed both towers, but on different days. If you can, I would advise climbing both. Your pass starts with the time you choose to climb the dome. They are both fabulous in different ways. The dome gives you a wonderful up close view of the inner dome frescos as well as amazing Florence views. The tower sports an amazing view of the outer dome. If you are in reasonable shape and have enough time, I'd do them both. And definitely get tickets ahead of time for the Uffizi and Accademia.

I did them back-to-back once. I was younger then. If I had to choose only one, it would be the Duomo's dome. The view is spectacular--both inside and at the top. Giotto's tower is wonderful because of the view it provides of Brunelleschi's dome and the Duomo.

Use the official sites - that way if you have any problems you don’t have to deal with a middle man.

We also climb any tower we can get to! I prefer Giotto’s bell tower, my husband likes the Duomo. I like the up close views of the Duomo from the top of Giotto’s bell tower AND I think the climb is more pleasant (less stuffy and cramped). Beautiful to be there when the bells are ringing!

We climbed both on separate days. Did the Dome first and then the Tower. Both are great. I think doing the Dome first is the way to go because then when you do the Tower you will see the Dome and be like "we were there".
