Advance tickets needed for sites in Orvieto and Siena in March?

Hi everyone. I'm still working to settle the plan for my next trip to Italy and need some input.

I know it's a good idea to purchase advance tickets to museums, cathedrals, towers etc. in Rome and Florence year round, but is it necessary for Orvieto and Siena in March and if so, about how soon should I purchase these tickets? I think I read that you can't order tickets for the tower in Siena until the day of.

Thank you!

General advice regarding advance tickets: periodically look at the relevant websites and see if they ever sell out and, if so, how far in advance. If there's always availability, it shouldn't be a worry. If they're usually sold out two weeks in advance, then you might want to purchase at least two weeks in advance.

We were in both places in October and did not need advanced tickets for any of the sites. The Siena Duomo had a line of about 5 people, and that is it. If you are the climbing for a view sort, consider getting the ticket to climb the special tower adjacent to the duomo. Spectacular! Also, my husband climbed the tower in the government building and he bought same day tickets. He was there at sunset and his pictures are spectacular as well.
