We are travelling to Herculaneum, Pompeii and the Caserta Royal Palace in September. Is it necessary to reserve or buy tickets in advance for these sites and if so, where is the best place on line to obtain them? AJ
You buy your tickets separately at each site, not in advance. Pompeii tickets are also sold at the Info Point kiosk in the Pompeii train station on the Circumvesuviana line.
It's not necessary to purchase in advance. You may however want to purchase the
http://www.campaniartecard.it/artecard_Regione.cfm. Look at the 3 day 32 E tutta la regione.
Card includes 2 free sites 50% discount on others. It also includes transportation in the
Campania region. Alibus, metro, buses both in Naples and along the Amalfi Coast. and
the Circumvesuvian. It does not include the 30 minute train trip to Caserta.
It can be purchased at the airport @ Viaggi Duslia Travel Agency (they don't always have
a large supply on hand, but check) or at Napoli Centrale by track #28.
If you purchased the three you mentioned, you would spend 30 euros. Without transportation.
You can buy the combo ticket for Herculaneum and pompeii for 20 euros, they are normally 11 euros each. This combo ticket also includes 3 other sites you may want to visit.
