Adult family in Italy

Eight family members (4 couples) planning two-week June/July Italy trip. Looking for 8-person lodgings in Rome, Florence and Venice at reasonable rate -- (say less than $100 a couple a night). Are their apts or hotels offering such short-term rates?

Without going into greater detail, 90E/night/couple in those cities in peak season is unrealistically low unless you are prepared for very spartan digs. If you were in country side, in small towns - maybe. In those cities, 150 - 180E would be more reasonable.

I was afraid of that. Might apts be an option and available? And how about discounts for booking multiple rooms?

try booking.com. Begin your search looking for 4 br apts. Then go down to 2 br. apts and they would probably tell you how many rooms available. you might be able to rent a couple of floors of an apt. buidling.

Booking.com also lists some houses, as do other sites.

I think it is doable for that amount, at least on average, especially if you rent an apartment rather than a hotel room.
Be aware that many apartment owners require a minimum number of night stay, generally at least 3 nights.
Try www.homeaway.com (or equivalent websites) and search in the cities you mentioned. You probably need 4 bedrooms, or at least 3 bedroom and a sofa bed in the living room.
If you stay in regular hotels, €90 a night for a double room is low. However if you are not the type that likes super fancy you can find nice 3-star hotels for just above 100€ for a double room. B&B tend to be cheaper.
Be aware that Venice might have more expensive accommodations, but if you average out at your budget level, you will be ok.

Try Wimdu.com.

I did a quick search for 8 persons/4 bedrooms in June next year and found 89 ranging from 115 USD/night to 1037 USD/night :-)

Good ideas. I'll see what I can find. You've been a great help -- especially noting the possibilities. Am hoping that by booking a year
in advance I can find some good lodgings that won't cost an arm and a leg. We won't spend much time in our rooms -- just sleeping
and showering and changing clothes. But would like them clean and relatively convenient location. Again, thanks. Other ideas are
sure welcome.
