Several friends are renting a villa in Pescara, Italy. We want to explore the gems of the eastern coast of Italy. Any suggestions for interesting venues, towns or sites? Thank you

Sulmona and Chieti, both inland from Pescara. Each is worth a visit, in my opinion. Not familiar with much else in the area.

The city of Pescara is quite modern, having been rebuilt after WWII. The mountains of Abruzzo National Park are beautiful for a slow, scenic drive. Although it is a fair distance, you could drive from Pescara to Urbino in 3 hours on the motorway, to see that hill town and Palazzo Ducale.
