Hello. We will be in Arezzo for a week with a car. We are interested in driving to the beach for a day....... any suggestions for a good beach town within about a two hour drive? I looked at Rimini but it looks very big and touristed.... would prefer something smaller.....if possible... traveling in the middle of June...... we would like to spend the day at the beach..... eat lunch... etc...... thanks for any suggestions...

Look at Pesaro. We liked the walks along the seafront as well as the old town. We stayed there and Rimini and much preferred Pesaro.

We spent a weekend at Rimini and the beach was terrible. Trashy and nothing like even the beaches we have in Georgia or Florida.
I have never been impressed with any of the beaches that I have been to in Europe, except in Greece.

Romagna: Cervia area (Milano Marittima, Cervia, Pinarella).
Marche: Fano
Southern Tuscany: Castiglion della Pescaia
Northwest Tuscany: Viareggio or Forte dei Marmi.
All of the above are about 2+ hour drive from Arezzo. Unfortunately Arezzo is not well located for day trip to beaches being in the middle of the interior of the peninsula.
