Adolf Munkel Trail: From Santa Magdalena or Ortisei?

Hello helpful forum members,
My husband and 8 year old son and I will be staying in Ortisei (June 18-24.) I really want to hike the Adolf Munkel Trail (or at least the most beautiful section of it.) We don't plan to rent a car unless absolutely necessary. I am wondering, logistically, which is the better of these 3 options? And which hiking route (i.e., from Santa Magdalena vs from Resciesa funicular) will be best for an 8 year old? (I think 5 or 6 miles is probably the most he can hike and that might even be a stretch for him.)

1) Take the bus to Santa Magdalena from Ortisei to hike from there (and return via bus). I think we would have to take the bus to Brixen to get to Santa Magdalena because there don't seem to be direct buses between Ortisei and Santa Magdalena. Is that correct?
2) Rent a car for one day to drive to Santa Magdalena for the hike
3) Or…take Resciesa funicular from Ortisei to Resciesa Plateau. From the mountain station, its an easy 3 mile walk to Malga Brogles in Val di Funes. Follow trails 31 and later 35 in the direction of Passo di Brogles/Brogles Sattel. From Malga Brogles you can continue along the Adolf Munkel Trail and detour to Geisler Alm. Could also walk down into Santa Magdalena and get bus back (to Brixen, then to Ortisei.) Looks like same distance to go into Santa Magdalena than to turn and go back to Resciesa station from Geisler Alm?

Thank you for your help!!

AM trail starts from Santa Maddalena.

1) using the bus is the best because the trail head's parking lots are small.
3) is not possible.

For Adolf Munkel Trail hike, you will want to start at the Zanser Alm parking lot instead of the village of Santa Magdalena. You can find details in this post: https://throneandvine.com/geisler-alm-adolf-munkel-trail/. Going by bus from Ortisei would be a long ride given the number of stops. Suggest either renting a car as you mentioned or taking a private taxi. Have a great trip with your family!

@Kate, thank you for correcting my mistake. AK Trail does start at the parking lot.
