Two things I forgot to mention. We did encounter a couple of guys running the "Petition against Drugs" scam across from the Lamberti Tower in Verona. There seemed to be a fixture there as we saw them on two days, set up with a table and everything.
Although it's probably ot so applicable now, but if it's hot and you are early for your train there is an airconditioned "aerobus" lounge in the train station in the hall on the left. Although no one was manning the desk when we came in, I would think if you had your luggage with you, and APPEARED you were heading to the airport, as long as you didn't stay longer than the time between airport buses, you could easily wait for your train seated in airconditioned comfort. We did.
