Your iphone, ipad and macbooks just need an adapter, not a converter.

You only need an adapter and not a converter. The adapter will have two round prongs. This goes into the socket and then you plug your phone or camera into it to charge. The converter is for appliances that are not dual voltage. Both your iphone and camera are dual voltage and just need the plug adapter as their plugs are a different shape than ours.

You can get adapter plugs for about a dollar or two; I buy one for each device and keep it connected to the charger/cord so I don't have to look for it.

Hi Elaine,

I'm wondering which phone service you have? I believe that Verizon's IPhone 4's do not work in Europe! I think At&t's work just fine. Just something to be aware of....

elaine,

Do NOT use the Voltage Converter for your iPhone Charger as undesirable results could occur, including the self-destruction of your iPhone charger. The "converter" part that you mentioned is the part which reduces 220 VAC European voltage to the North American 115 VAC level. If you do in fact need a Voltage Converter, ONLY a transformer model should be used with electronic products.

I'd recommend checking your iPhone Charger to determine the "Input Voltage" ratings. Every iPhone Charger I've seen (so far) is designed to operate within a range of 100-240 VAC, so you will only need an inexpensive Plug Adaptor such as THIS model to use in Europe. I'd suggest packing along at least two, as they're small and easy to misplace or forget in hotel rooms.

An iPhone 4 will not work in Europe...a 4s will. I had to trade up last summer before I left home.
Apple sells a worldwide adapter kit specifically for Apple products. This is the best bet for your phone in my opinion.

You do not need a converter for Apple products as they are already dual voltage. Just plug your phone into the adapter and then plug the adapter into the socket. That's it!
