to charge your phones, all you need is an adaptor and they are only $1 here on the Rick Steves site.

As far as a hairdryer and curling iron - you need to get DUAL VOLTAGE ones on amazon or ulta

this is what i use to power/charge my small electronics (phone, camera, and pad):

However for things like hairdryers and curlers what you essentially need is a step-down transformer with the proper socket adapter. Be very careful about the wattage rating of your device and the transformer. if your hairdryer is rated at 2000w you need a transformer that has the same output rating. something like this but please read the fine print about not being compatible with curlers.

no matter what type of converter you get be aware that overloading a circuit has a very real danger of tripping a breaker or blowing a fuse or worse starting a fire, especially in an older building. hope this helps.

you are also almost certain to have a hair dryer in a hotel room anywhere, same with a B&B or flat. Check before you spend the space and weight in your luggage - you may well carry it around with never using it.

Thank you for you replies! I checked everyplace we are staying and there is only one nights stay that doesn’t have a hair dryer. I’m happy to leave mine at home. I’m checking on your suggestions for the adapters. Getting so excited to finally go to Italy and celebrate our anniversary! We’ve had to cancel the past two years.
Next on my list is to pack everything in a carry on. I have trouble fitting everything in on a weekend trip😀.
