Actually getting tickets for Venice shopping center rooftop

https://www.dfs.com/en/venice/service/rooftop-terrace

Per previous research, I learned that tickets can be secured, free, three weeks in advance of one's visit. I attempted to get tickets from the site above, and it appears one can only book about a week out. I tried different computers, and the results were the same.

I'm wondering if anyone has actually booked these tickets, and if the system worked smoothly, and how far in advance you were able to secure tickets?

The visits are only for 15 minutes, not a deal breaker, but would be nice for an early evening stroll. I believe the rooftop closes before sunset, which I think would be around 8:00pm in May.

Thx for any information. Safe travels.

That is the site I used. It may be that they don’t release the following month until almost the end of the current one. I remember it was a bit odd, but easy to obtain tickets once they are released. Enter the Fondaco from the street that is just off Campo San Bortolomio. If I could find the street name, I’d give better directions. Anyway, just to the left inside that door (often has a doorman) is the escalator up to the entrance point to the rooftop. Yes, it is only :15 and they time it!! We booked for the last :15 slot and they were there clearing us out at :15 exactly. The time really is adequate and the view is truly wonderful.

I think we booked our tickets for early March more than a month in advance—like January. Not that we needed to; it was just what I happened to think about it.

The website does now seem to limit the days and hours available for booking. I see only April 26 and 27, early in the day (not at sunset). I don’t know if that is the procedure now, or a temporary glitch. With the increased numbers of tourists flooding into Venice, it may be the way it is. I would just keep checking every day or so. It is well worth doing.

And get there early so you can explore the building and browse the high-end shopping opportunities. Not to buy, just to marvel. We walked up the stairs and did a lap around every level, just because.

The rooftop is only accessible during the opening hours of the department store. This year I booked my appointment in February two weeks in advance and it worked very easily and without any problems.

Another reason I love this forum.... I didn't know about this, but I'm adding it now to my list of things to do in Venice! Thank you!

We went in late March. I believe I booked right around the 3 week mark, but I kept checking and I think as someone else said, they seem to release them in batches, there was a little delay at the end of February before the next month was available.
It's definitely worth spending the time to try to book it, great views of the city. It's a little strange the way the whole thing worked, we arrived about 10 minutes before our 15 minute slot. There was someone checking tickets (just showed the confirmation email on my phone), then we stood in line in this big empty room. At the start time, one set of doors opened, all the people who had been on the terrace are ushered quickly down the stairs and out to the store, and then we were let up. During the 15 minutes, you just walk around the terrace, taking pictures etc. There are plenty of people up there, but not so crowded that you can't get a good view. Then at the end of your time, they usher you back down the stairs.

For the past two days there have been no dates posted available for booking. I will post updates as I check this site a few times a day. I'm assuming that new available dates will be dumped at an unspecified time. Rather adds an element of sport to the chase......

I finally got tickets today for early May. I had been checking daily ( I forgot to yesterday,) so about two-three weeks in advance. The site seems to drop new tickets on an irregular schedule, but the tickets do appear. However, all the late afternoon and evening tickets were gone immediately, so so sunset views ( altho I think sunset is much later.) just adding this info to help any other visitors. Safe travels!

Thank you, Pat, this has been extremely helpful! I'll be trying to get these tickets in November for December and your relating of your experience makes me know what to do and when --- what I had read online previously about these tickets said something like "Stop by in the morning to get tickets for later that day." Now I feel much better informed!

Nancy, I wouldn't try the stopping by approach. Once the tickets were posted, the website is friendly and the whole process only took a minute or two.
Have a great trip!
