Greetings Fellow Travelers! We will be staying near Pienza and near Siena for 4 days total. We will are following “heart of Italy tour” from book but need some other suggestions. Winery(s) that have a cellar or cave tour? We are not wine experts just like to drink good wine and meet nice people. Besides wine what other farm-to-table tasting activities are around? We want to visit some cheese farms near Pienza and would love suggested places. Any other idea’s? Thanks

Three years ago we had an amazing farm tour, and wine and charcuterie tasting at Podere Il Casale farm. They have since added a restaurant. We are going back in October with friends, for another tour. Their cheese is used by Thomas Keller at the French Laundry in Napa California. Amazing because every single thing we ate or drank was produced on that farm. We were the only guests who had ordered the charcuterie tasting and we lingered behind and chatted with the owners (we own a restaurant in the US, so lots of fun stuff to discuss, and they were wonderful hosts). Highly recommend! Email them for times and dates. Cost is very reasonable.
