Hi all,
We'll be in Rome for Liberation Day, April 25th and Workers Day, May 1st. First, am I accurate on these national holiday dates?
If yes, will there be celebrations, parades, festivals, etc. for either date? I accept that tourist attractions will be closed and will be happy to trade closed musuems for the Italian equivalent of our July 4th parade and fireworks.

Smaller stores in the outlying neighborhoods (mine!) will close on the 25th, but in the tourist areas the 25th will seem like a normal day, especially since it is a Saturday.

April 25th we'll stay in Rome and do tourist things.
May 1st we're planning The Appian Way and with a picnic at Aquaduct part, hoping to see other families doing the same. We'll use public transport to and back from Appian / Aquaduct.
Does this reasonable?

Very reasonable. Hope the weather is good! it was great last May 1!
The buses shut down in the afternoon last year. I was told it ws for a bus driver "meeting." Metro will be crowded to Aquaduct Park. If you go to Appian Way go as early as possible and be prepared to take a taxi back if the bus drivers go off to celebrate Labor Day!
