Accomodations in Venice for group

We have booked flight on one of Delta's covid tested flights for August. We were going to Italy in May in 2020 which I know would have been cooler but we decided to go anyway. Finding it a bit tricky to find accommodations for a group at the (almost) last minute.

I found this website online that has some nice larger apartments that aren't too badly priced. I wondered if anyone was familiar with Venice Apartments. They say they have been in business 20 years but of course you can say anything.

Or if you have other ideas of sites beyond airbnb or VRBO.

How many rooms does your group need? How many in each room?

At least three bedrooms. Not opposed to having someone on a couch. But need one of the bedrooms to have single beds which makes it more difficult.Have found some possibilities on air bnb but trying to find other options as well.

Are you familiar with this company?

Try Venice Red House:

We have rented from them in the past and will next time. The owners, Marco and Caroline Malafante, are Venetians and very easy to work with. Their English is excellent and their rental prices and policies are reasonable.

Some of their properties are large buildings with two or more apartments, so that would be good for your group. One such building is the Lion’s House which is an excellent location near on a tiny campo (San Lio) near the Rialto Bridge on the San Marco side. We rented the top floor apartment (Lion’s House #4, a 2-bdr apartment which had a private elevator (which we only used when we had luggage) and a lovely rooftop terrace (altana). At the time they also managed Lions ## 1, 2, and 3, which I believe are also 2-bed. Apartments, but without the elevator and roof-top access. Some combination of these might work for you—-but be sure to include #4 so you get that Altana!

Look around their website and then try emailing to see if they can suggest something appropriate for you.

Lola-

Thanks. I like their website. It is very clear about what the bed configuration is which is important when you have a group. I did not find the Lion accommodation you referred to but found some other possibilities.

They don’t seem to have a “search” function on the website but I found it with Google:

https://www.veniceredhouse.com/apartments-in-venice/the-lions-house-apartment-lion-4/

And Lion’s House #3 has twin beds in the second bedroom:

It appears the other apartments besides #4 are now served by a lift, so that is good news. When we rented, #4 on the top floor was the only one with a lift.

Also, note that #4 is the only one with a real “living room”, separate from the kitchen/dining area. The second bedroom in #4 is an attic room (with sloping ceiling) that is reached by the stairs you see in the photo (they have added the railing since we stayed there—-it was open on that side then. You go through this attic room to reach the altana. So this arrangement might not be ideal for your group. But they do have other buildings with multiple units.

On the home page, you have to search under the "choose your style" to find the various rooms by name.

Lion #4 shows up in a couple of 'style' categories

We stayed at this apartment in 2018. The company has several apartments all next to each other. Search for Stella Marina on booking.com and you will see all their listings.

The apartment has a master bedroom and bath on the first floor. Upstairs is a queen bed in a loft area, plus a bedroom with two twin beds. There is a full bath upstairs. There is a/c in all areas, a washing machine downstairs, full kitchen and living room. Lots of space. It’s located on Giudecca island, about 15 minutes from St. Mark’s. We really enjoyed being in a quiet neighborhood, with only one bridge to cross after getting off the vaporetto with luggage. The a/c was very welcome, too!

Hi Beth,
We (a group of 4) rented from Venice Apartment in May of 2017. We had the one called Altana and everything went smoothly with the booking and all interactions. The apartment was exactly as pictured on the site and very clean. I would rent from them again and I hope everything works out for your trip and you have a fantastic time.

The apartment on booking.com that travel4fun recommended is booked for our time frame.

Thanks so much all. You are the best.

Consider staying one of the nun operated accommodations. We stayed at Instituto San Guiseppe. Great location. monasterystays.com
