Need safe, clean, hostel/b&b/monestary near Spanish Steps for 4 nights. Any suggestions?
That is the high rent district. Will not find inexpensive (relatively speaking) accommodations in that area. Any special reason for choosing that area?
It is expensive there but everything is close if you use the metro, so you can stay just about anywhere and be within minutes of the Spanish Steps metro stop.
I agree with Frank, the area is very expensive. You'll get more for your money is other area of Rome without giving up the central location.
I think Hotel Panda is in that area and they are a budget-type place.
Becky, there are some convents in that area. They will have a curfew but after a hard day of walking, walking, walking, that's okay. Some are for women only, but most accept male and female guests. Not 5 star, but clean, quiet and way less expensive in great locations. The taxi drivers will not overcharge when a nun calls the cab for you!
Google convent accommodation+rome
and you will find links. I have stayed in convents in both Rome and Florence. Delightful.
