Hi: We are flying into Rome on Oct. 16. We need rooms for one couple and one single - economic, for 3 nights. What do you suggest? We want to stay in Castel del Monte/L'Aquila/Abruzzo on 20-25. Could be a cottage, a pensione, B&B. We need separate bedrooms. Thank you - we always depend on Rick!

Hi Jim: Thanks for your question. I just ordered it today. I've used Rick many times - he is so great. We're excited about the trip - I've been to the Dolomites but never to Rome.

Von, you can also go to the Trip Advisor site for each town, and read the lodging reviews/ratings of fellow travelers. We always do this to vett any reccomendation that we may receive. When Rick does not cover an area, we alos like to check out the recomendations in the Lonely Planet guidebooks.

And don't forget to use Google Maps Streetview before you book a place. That trick saved us from booking on hotel that had a McDonalds right in front of them.

You always know you are near a major site in Rome if you see a McDonalds.
