We have a very early morning flight out of Venice. We are looking for hotel accomodations that are convenient to the airport, possibly with shuttle service. Any suggestions?

Yep. There are several hotels and inns near the Venice Marco Polo airport. You can see them all on www.tripadvisor.com.
I can list two. I would suggest the Marriott Courtyard which is .8km from the airport. 132E/night. Not sure about shuttle. You might also look into the Titian Inn Hotel and Residence. I'm going to throw a completely different idea at you. We stayed in Venice April 5-7, and Lufthansa changed our flight at the last minute to 7:10 AM. We ended up hiring a water taxi at 100 euros (granted, not cheap) for our party of four through our B&B and it ended up being very memorable. We were outside the B&B at 4:25 and we could hear the putt-putt of the boat, right on time. We went zooming over to the airport and got to see Venice in a completely different light...just coming awake. The water taxi leaves you off at a pier, and there's a well-lit, covered walkway that leads to the airport - an easy 10 min. walk. Just consider it...this way, you can stay in Venice proper rather than airport hotel.
By the way, the airport is very modern and nice...and smallish, which is great. They also offer baggage storage, which we used (4.5 euros per bag per night).
In any case, have a great trip!
